Development
Whether your project is a large-scale solar farm or small battery storage facility, we can help you through the development processes that will get it built.
Planning process
Our team has extensive experience of securing the relevant permits, permissions and legal agreements to ensure your scheme is successfully constructed and commissioned. We can manage all aspects of the development process, including obtaining the planning permission and grid offer, stakeholder management and securing the relevant legal documentation such as wayleaves.
Community and commercial finance
We are experienced in structuring a range of financial models depending on your requirements, from commercial investment to community funding, or a mix of the two.
Community investment is a fantastic way of getting local people involved and on board with your project. We developed the UK’s first solar farms funded by a council-backed solar bond, which raised £1.8 million, and ISA-eligible solar bond, which raised £2.4 million.
We can also help you bid for suitable funding from specialist lenders.
We will then ensure the scheme progresses against the agreed finance and ownership model.
Engaging with the community
Positive community engagement is critical when developing a renewable energy project. We always ensure that the local community is placed at the heart of the project, going above and beyond the normal requirements of the planning process.
Before the planning application is submitted, communities will be invited to participate in assessing any scheme through a variety of consultation events and mailings, as agreed with the client.
We can also advise on community benefit packages and community investment opportunities.
Feasibility
We offer a range of feasibility studies based on our clients’ individual requirements.
Indicative appraisal
For local authority clients, we can conduct a Borough or District-wide search for public sector owned assets or suitable private sites.
Detailed feasibility
Our feasibility work covers initial site identification including the review of all land assets suitable for solar PV and/or battery storage or other technologies. As part of this, we will look at the following elements:

A highly qualified, client-side construction manager will liaise with contractors on site providing regular updates in accordance with your needs and ensuring this stage of the development runs as smoothly as possible.
They will monitor contractors on site, provide Health & Safety and Environmental Management, and will monitor the project delivery against your plans, keeping you updated every step of the way.
