Wroughton Airfield Solar Farm
CLIENT: SCIENCE MUSEUM GROUP
The project was a joint development for Public Power Solutions (PPS), now known as Ethical Power Development, with the Science Museum Group who were looking for a solution that would generate an income enabling them to refurbish the aircraft hangers on the former World War II airfield.
Throughout the development process, we invited the local community to participate in assessing the scheme through several consultation events. The project attracted high levels of support from the community and political parties. There is also a community benefit fund of £62,000 per year to fund local community projects as well as providing grants for projects focusing on science, technology, engineering, maths, environment, health or play.
The project was initially funded by a private investor and was refinanced by a consortium of local authorities (Warrington, Newham and Thurrock).
